Mid-Autumn Fest May Be Over, But the Warmth Remains! Company Hosts Special "Bó Bǐng" Banquet, Dice Roll for Prosperity

Though the Mid-Autumn Festival has passed, the spirit of reunion and celebration lingers. Recently, KWS organized a unique regional-themed banquet for employees, featuring the traditional dice game "Bó Bǐng." The event was filled with the lively clatter of dice and cheerful laughter as staff competed to roll the most "red 4s"—symbolizing good fortune—to win auspicious prizes.

Feast with Flavor: A Heartwarming Celebration

Even though Mid-Autumn Festival had ended, the company’s leadership wanted to ensure employees didn’t miss out on the festive joy. To make up for those who had to work during the holiday, they arranged a special banquet at a renowned local restaurant, serving seasonal delicacies like mooncakes, osmanthus wine, and crab dishes. Yu  from HR explained, "Mid-Autumn Festival is about family, but many in service industries sacrifice that time for work. This belated feast is our way of saying ‘thank you’ and sharing blessings." Over dinner, colleagues toasted, shared holiday stories, and bonded. Zhang  from Marketing remarked, "I never expected post-festival mooncakes—it’s like extending the holiday happiness!"

Bó Bǐng Mania: Rolling Dice for Luck 
The highlight of the evening was "Bó Bǐng," a traditional Minnan (Southern Fujian) dice game. The rules were simple yet thrilling: each player rolled six dice, and prizes were awarded based on how many "4s" appeared—with the red-painted "4" spots symbolizing prosperity ( thriving success). The prize table was stacked with coveted items—rice cookers, air fryers, gift cards—with the grand prize (Zhuàng Yuan) requiring four or more red 4s.Xiaoliu from Tech stunned everyone by rolling three red 4s in their first try, while Xiao Wang from Finance pulled off a comeback, clinching the top prize with five red 4s. "This luck means booming business next year!" the winner laughed, holding their prize high.

Cultural Roots: The Auspicious Symbolism Behind the Dice 

Bó Bǐng dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, said to be invented by Koxinga (Zheng Chenggong) to lift soldiers’ spirits far from home. The game’s red "4s" carry deep meaning—red signifies joy, while the number "4" sounds like "fortune" in the Minnan dialect. The clattering dice symbolize bustling energy and success.
